Chester W. Spellman was appointed by the White House to serve as the Director of AmeriCorps State and National at AmeriCorps on August 1, 2017. During his three-and-a-half-year tenure at AmeriCorps Chester provided mission-centric leadership focused on national impact and program improvement.
Prior to joining AmeriCorps, Chester served as the Chief Executive Officer of Volunteer Florida, the Florida Commission on Community Service, for over five years. Chester has more than twenty years of experience in the nonprofit sector and ten years of senior leadership experience in the public sector. He has devoted his life to service and believes there is no greater call than the calling to serve others.
Chester currently serves as President of CW Spellman Consulting. He specializes in providing strategic and management consulting services to nonprofit organizations. The mission of CW Spellman Consulting is to help organizations succeed, reach their full potential, and achieve increased community impact.
Chester holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in pastoral ministries from Southeastern University in Lakeland, Florida, and a Master of Arts in organizational leadership from Regent University in Virginia Beach, Virginia. In 2009 he received a Stanford Graduate School of Business certificate upon completion of the Executive Program for Nonprofit Leaders at the Stanford University Center for Social Innovation. He was recognized as the 2016 Young Floridian of the Year by the Bob Graham Center for Public Service at the University of Florida.
Chester and his wife, Amanda, reside in Jacksonville, Florida, with their four children.
