Amanda Mahan joined Operation New Hope in January 2019. As the Chief Communications Officer, she is responsible for developing and implementing the long-term communications strategy, fund development, grants management, and vision for Operation New Hope’s brand. Amanda works collaboratively with senior leadership to develop and implement communication strategies to attract funding, broaden the impact of programs, and promote and advance Operation New Hope’s reputation as a leader in the field of reentry. These strategies include community outreach, grant writing, events management, and development of publications, print and digital marketing, social media, and media outreach.
Amanda’s varied work experience has prepared her for the diverse challenges of her current role. She developed strong writing and communication skills during her many years working in the legal field and as a freelance editor. She became proficient at design by studying art and working as an arts instructor.
Amanda is a graduate of Florida State University, earning her BA in International Affairs and studying ceramic sculpture in the MFA Studio Art program. In her free time, Amanda loves to be outside with her family and friends – walking in the woods, digging in her garden, or swimming at the beach. She is beyond excited about the publication of her first novel – Mermaid’s Key – in November 2019.
