Corvus Whitaker has been part of the team at Operation New Hope since 2007. He has served the organization’s mission to match people returning from incarceration with living wage careers in several capacities over the years and has worked his way up to the leadership level. Corvus now serves as our Chief Programs Officer, leading our nationally acclaimed Ready4Release, Ready4Work, and Ready4Success programs. Corvus and our dedicated team of case managers, mental health counselors, and career coaches work with participants one-on-one to address personal needs and overcome obstacles after involvement with the criminal justice system. Our programs give people the tools needed to focus on the future and leave the past behind.
Driven by his family’s own incarceration history, Corvus was called to reentry. He believes that people deserve a second chance and values the opportunities he has to help change someone’s life. He is encouraged by the people he has touched knowing that they too will go on to impact other peoples’ lives. “I’m in the business of new starts and new beginnings. It’s all about empathy and compassion.”
Corvus is a graduate of Florida State University, earning his degree in Sociology. Prior to joining Operation New Hope, Corvus worked as an educator. In his down time, Corvus volunteers in youth athletics programs.
We provide support, life and job skills training for people affected by the criminal justice system and place them in employment that offers a sustainable quality of life.
