In the latest edition of The Hope Series, viewers are introduced to Kendal McCoy, a Ready4Work program graduate who has overcome challenges and emerged as a shining example of resilience and success. As a co-employee of the year, Kendal’s story serves as an example of hope and inspiration.
Kendal’s journey begins with the devastating displacement he experienced when Hurricane Katrina ravaged his hometown of New Orleans. Like many others, this event upended his life, forcing him to leave behind everything he knew and loved. Amidst the chaos and uncertainty, Kendal found himself grappling with feelings of loss, despair, and displacement.
Trying to find stability in the aftermath of the hurricane, Kendal’s path took an unfortunate turn, leading to his involvement with the criminal justice system. This moment could have defined the rest of his life, but Kendal refused to let it be his downfall. Instead, he made a conscious decision to take control of his life and seek a brighter future.
With a determination to turn his life around, Kendal discovered our organization and the Ready4Work program. We provided him with the necessary support, resources, and guidance to break free from the cycle of adversity and build a foundation for success. Through Ready4Work, Kendal acquired crucial life skills, underwent professional training, and cultivated a renewed sense of self-belief.
The Hope Series is grateful to Kendal for sharing his journey. Viewers are reminded of the transformative potential that exists within each person and the importance of fostering a society that embraces second chances. Kendal’s story stands as a testament to the fact that when we provide individuals with the support and resources they need, they can rewrite their narratives and create a brighter future for themselves and their communities.
We provide support, life and job skills training for people affected by the criminal justice system and place them in employment that offers a sustainable quality of life.
