On Saturday, June 22, the spirit of generosity was on full display as employees from the Orlando Utilities Commission (OUC) gathered to assemble 1,000 personal care packages for Operation New Hope.
The event brought together employees from various departments, all united by a common purpose: to make a positive impact on the lives of individuals in the Orlando community. The team assembled packages filled with essential personal care items such as shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, and other hygiene products. These care packages are designed to provide much-needed relief and support to the beneficiaries of Operation New Hope, particularly individuals coming to the organization immediately following release from the prison system.
About OUC
The Orlando Utilities Commission, known as OUC, is the second-largest municipal utility in Florida, providing electric and water services to more than 240,000 customers in Orange and Osceola Counties. The collaboration between OUC and Operation New Hope is a testament to the power of community partnerships. By working together, the two organizations can extend their reach and make a more significant impact on the lives of those we serve.
How You Can Help
If you’re inspired by OUC’s efforts and want to contribute to Operation New Hope, there are several ways you can get involved. Consider donating items for hygiene kits, attending a “Second Chance Showcase“, volunteering your time at “Community in the Classroom” by leading a mock interview, or by making a financial contribution support our programs. Every effort counts and helps to create opportunities for Second Chances across Florida and within our local communities.
Hosting a hygiene kit drive is one of the tangible ways to help our clients and breaking the cycle of incarceration. If you or your organization is interested in hosting a drive, please contact our Community Engagement Manager Kaley Vontz.
