Second Chance Month, observed in April, is a nationwide effort to raise awareness of the collateral consequences of a criminal conviction, and unlock second-chance opportunities for people who have completed their sentences to become contributing citizens. In celebration of Second Chance Month, our goal is to highlight community partners who support our mission by helping people make the most of their second chances. We are happy to spotlight New Life Jax Recovery Services for being a Second Chance Supporter.
New Life Jax Recovery Services is one of our valued transitional housing partners who provides safe and stable sober-living housing for some of our Ready4Work clients. Their structured program allows residents to manage their recovery in a safe, home-like environment. New Life Jax Recovery Services teaches that teamwork and accountability are the keys to success along with a self-commitment to live a sober, happy life. New Life Jax Recovery Services is part of the National, State, and Local Alliances for Recovery Residences and is owned and operated by Richard Preston.
Richard shared with us that he too struggled with addiction. As part of his journey, he transitioned from treatment to sober living and loved how he was able to gradually get back into life. “In my life of addiction, I took so much from people. I knew I needed to give back, so in 2019, I donated a kidney. Now, I have devoted my life to helping others.” Richard recently attended a Ready4Work graduation to support one of his residents, James, who completed the career development training and earned Student of the Week.
Richard’s passion for second chances is incredible. “Whatever I get into, I have the drive to be the best. I’m going to be the Michael Jordan of recovery, and I’m proud to serve Jacksonville and help Operation New Hope.”
We are so thankful for Richard’s commitment to helping others transform their lives at New Life Jax Recovery Services. Thanks for being a Second Chance Supporter!
We provide support, life and job skills training for people affected by the criminal justice system and place them in employment that offers a sustainable quality of life.
