Voices of Hope – Keith Channel

“By the time I realized I was too far gone, I already was. I spent 10 years in prison due to my drug addiction and the choices I made. But prison was really a rescue mission from God. During my first 3 years, I spent 26 months in solitary confinement until finally surrendered and turned my life around. I eventually earned my Bachelor of Theology degree while incarcerated and taught men’s bible study every Saturday morning. I started to give respect and earned respect and that made all the difference.”

“When you get out of prison with only $50 in your pocket, it’s hard to find hope. But coming to Operation New Hope was one of the best gifts I’ve ever received. I got here and everyone was so nice. I received help with my resume and had 3 interviews in my first week after graduating from Ready4Work. Despite the fact that I was fresh out of prison and 57 years old, I landed a great job with The Waters’ Edge working on boats. I’ve been there for almost 2 months now, working 6 days a week, and I love it!”

“My life is great now. I lead a bible study group on Thursdays and I’ve moved to New Beginnings where I’m begin considered for the part-time resident manager position. I’m back in school earning a certificate in Intervention and Recovery. After completing the 18 month long program, I plan to work as an addiction recovery coach. My goal is to give back.”

“God is amazing. Operation New Hope is amazing. And life is amazing. I am just so thankful!”
