Voices of Hope – Michael Jones

After being released from Baker Correctional facility, Michael Jones was staying with a friend and working a job washing cars.  It was then he realized that he had a bigger vision for himself and it was time to make a change. “I came to the mindset that I had to do what I needed to do to make myself proud before I could do anything for anyone else.”

Determined to unlock his potential, Michael turned to Operation New Hope for help and enrolled in the Ready4Work program.  “I was focused in class, took everything they gave me and applied it to my knowledge to make the most of program.”  Just days after graduating, his job coach connected him with a new employment partner – The Bearded Pig. Michael applied his newly acquired skills, aced the interview and started work as a full-time line cook.

“Since working there for the past 2 ½ months, I’ve earned 3 raises and been through 3 different stations.  I’m now working as a supervisor. I just bought a car and I have my own place now.” Michael smiles brightly with pride and adds, “I’m from the street, but I’m not in the street anymore.”
