With over 400 in attendance, the 2nd annual Hope Starts Here 5k presented by Florida Capital Bank was a great success! The race began and ended at Operation New Hope’s main office in the Historic Springfield neighborhood on a beautiful May morning. Runners and walkers enjoyed a route through charming tree-lined streets, past homes dating back to the early 1900s, and along sections of Jacksonville’s Emerald Trail. After the race, our great neighbors at Strings Sports Brewery hosted the post-race party with hoops, darts, and free beer and burritos for all participants.
“Whenever someone crosses a finish line in their life — whether it’s a personal goal, a professional accomplishment, or a 5K with friends and family — it has the power to inspire hope in someone else,” said Reggie Fullwood, President and CEO of Operation New Hope. “In the last 24 years, we have provided support and training to over 10,000 people to help reconnect them to the workforce, their families, and the community after involvement with the criminal justice system. We are so thankful to partner with FLCBank again this year and are grateful for their continued support of our life-changing programs.”
We also thank our other great event sponsors and all race participants for their support of second chances. Proceeds from the race supports our mission to build safer communities, stronger economies, and more stable families through workforce training, mental health services and job placement for people affected by the criminal justice system. Thanks to everyone who helped make the day a success!
We provide support, life and job skills training for people affected by the criminal justice system and place them in employment that offers a sustainable quality of life.
