Orlando Showed Up to Race in Support of Hope

The Hope Starts Here 5k in Orlando was a great success! Participants and sponsors enjoyed a beautiful morning by Baldwin Lake while supporting efforts to reconnect people to the workforce, their families, and our communities after involvement with the criminal justice system. Thanks to everyone who came out to race in support of Second Chances and Hope!

Proceeds from the Hope Starts Here 5k will benefit Operation New Hope, where we believe that we are all better than our worst mistake, worst day, or worst decision. For over 20 years, we have worked to build a stronger community by creating opportunities for people with a record to realize second chances. Funds raised will be used to provide career readiness training, mental health services, and job placement to help people become successful and self-sufficient and break the cycle of incarceration and poverty.

Operation New Hope thanks our Hope Starts Here 5k event sponsors: Reform Alliance, The Southern Group, Lloyd Commercial, Checkr, Rahman Johnson, Miller Electric, West Orange Endocrinology, CareerSource Central Florida, bestbet, and B Physical Therapy

“Whenever someone crosses a finish line in their life — whether it’s a personal goal, a professional accomplishment, or a 5K with friends and family — it has the power to inspire hope in someone else,” said Reggie Fullwood, President and CEO of Operation New Hope. “In the last 24 years, we have provided hope, support and training to over 10,000 people. And to meet the critical needs of of the thousands who return home every month from Florida’s jails and prisons, Operation New Hope is building a Statewide Reentry Network and expanded to Central Florida last year. This race was a great opportunity to celebrate our first year’s impact in Orlando!”

We look forward to seeing you all again at next year’s Hope Starts Here 5k! Check out photos from the event below and on our social media channels @renewhope!
