50th Anniversary Players Charity Shootout Classic

THE PLAYERS Charity Shootout Classic, held Monday, February 12, 2024, was a testament to the power of the community coming together for a noble cause. During the 50th anniversary of The Players Charity Shootout Classic, Operation New Hope and 4 other participating organizations, competed for the chance to have their celebrity golfer get their ball closest to the hole on the iconic Island Green.

A local legend, Dee Brown, known for his feats on the basketball court, brought his passion and skill to the golf course as Operation New Hope’s celebrity golfer. With a career spanning 12 years in the NBA and now serving as the Senior Associate Athletic Director at Jacksonville University, Dee Brown embodies dedication and community involvement. Dee dig a great job representing ONH and came in second place.

Congratulations to Jim Furyk from The Furyk Foundation for clinching the victory. This win goes beyond the golf course, reflecting a commitment to philanthropy and community betterment that has long been their hallmark. His charity will receive $50,000 and the other 4 will receive $5,000 donations.

Thanks to THE PLAYERS Charity Shootout Classic for a fun competition and for bringing together the community for a cause greater than ourselves. Here’s to many more years of camaraderie, compassion, and collective action. Together, we can continue to make safer communities and stronger families, one swing at a time.
